The rules of Kendo

If you really want to practice Kendo you need to know what to expect during out trainings, where to strike, how fast we are and so on. Kendo is a full contact martial art and an anaerobe sport because we practice having in mind speed and speed resistance among other things like precision.

Being a full contact martial art is OK because we hit on bogu (the armor) and we use shinai (the training sword). Even if, in worst cases, your opponent misses the hit you'll be at least bruising and that's about it (the real accidents happen very hardly - in 22 years of practice for the moment I've seen only a few flaws not a real accident). I am letting you find out about the rules of Kendo, the specific to International Kendo Federation Rules - you can always watch this short beginner’s tutorial video guide on how Kendo is played to understand how we are fighting, Kendo rules, and how to practice Kendo, so learn about ippon, men, kote, do, tare, zanshin, ki, ken, tai, tie, shinai, sword and more.
