Kendo footwork (ashi sabaki)

When a person starts to practice kendo he or she need to start learning a few things first before fighting or learning a specific tehnique that person has in mind. Kendo has a specific footwork called ashi sabaki and any practicion need to learn it very good to continue to learn and do new things.

First that person needs to move and then he or she need to strike while standing in one place. When they are done in a good way the kenshi starts to combine them: he / she needs to strike while moving. In time the training complexity is increasing but the footwork is basics. Striking may be good but without footwork all he / she does is wrong.

And the person should do that only in dojo, at least in the first 2 or 3 trainings, because he / she needs another person with more experience to be watching and explaining when necessary. It's easier to learn to do corectly from the beginning than to correct the bad posture or the bad footwork later. The footwork is quite easy but doing it always in a good way is a different story.
