Kendo Basics: suburi (practice swings for warming up)

Kendo suburi are just practice swings the kenshi (kendo practitioners) are doing while warming up. You can watch a different suburi training here (on the Romanian version of the website) and you can better understand what a training is.

And warming up is important in any sport and doing it well in kendo help you have better results in the second part for each training, because each training has a meaning. You can develop your body during one traning, or you can improve and learn now techniques, or you will fight with all your opponents, and so on. The person who is leading the training will alternate the purpose from training to training.

One can practice suburi for himself if he wants, or he can call one's kendo camarades and they can practice the worming up together. You can watch and learn a few things if you want to do suburi for yourself and you don't already know it in a very good whay - in this episode of The Kendo Show, host Andy Fisher takes us through the basics of Kendo Suburi. You can also understand in a better way how the Kendo tranings are happening.
